Have you ever heard someone say, "just be" or "just be in nature," and not quite understood the idea? Then this post is for you!
Keep reading to deepen your understanding of the concept and to equip yourself with an incredible tool for self-love and calmness!
There’s something deeply healing about simply being in nature. To "just be" means exactly that – to exist without expectations or demands. Letting go of time, of obligations and immersing yourself in nature’s rhythm is a little like coming home.
Use the nature close to where you live; it makes it more accessible and allows you to visit several times a week. Whether it’s the sea, a park, the forest, your garden or a lake, choose a spot where you feel safe and can relax. Bring a small mat or blanket to make it easier to settle down.
Nature offers a space where you can be exactly as you are. Being in nature is an act of love towards yourself. It’s saying yes to presence and no to performance. You don’t need plans or goals. It’s enough to sit quietly, listen to the sounds, take in the scents and notice the details around you. In simplicity lies beauty!
Nature and our inner balance
Nature has an amazing ability to bring balance to our lives. When we’re outside, surrounded by greenery and fresh air, something shifts within us. Our breathing deepens, our minds calm and our bodies find a chance to recover. Nature energizes us while also soothing our thoughts – a combination that’s both uplifting and relaxing!
I often find that creativity begins to flow and new ideas emerge. Earlier this week, I gave myself a moment in the woods, lying on my back beneath beech trees. Bare of leaves now, their soft movements and sharp contrast against the white-grey sky created a striking scene. I felt as if my brain took a break from the constant influx of modern stimuli, allowing my thoughts to wander freely. It’s hard to put into words, but the feeling is magical. You simply have to try it for yourself! Give it a few attempts – we’re all beginners at first.
How often and for how long?
It doesn’t take much to experience the magic of nature. Small, regular moments can make a big difference:
Daily: Spend 10 minutes outdoors. Sit on a bench, walk barefoot in your garden or simply open a window and breathe in the fresh air.
Weekly: Set aside a longer time in nature. A walk in the forest, a visit to the sea or a coffee break outdoors can renew your energy and deepen your connection to nature.
Whenever you feel the need: Listen to your body. If you’re longing for stillness, let nature become your refuge.
The magic of letting go
To just be in nature is to meet both the world and yourself without expectations. It’s a reminder that life isn’t always about doing something, but rather about experiencing and feeling. When you sit on a rock, lean against a tree or let the sun warm your face - you allow nature’s stillness to become a part of you!
Don’t wait until you have time – create the moment and give yourself the gift of simply being in nature. It’s a simple yet powerful act of self-love – and a reminder that we already have everything we need, right here and now.
Take care of yourself!
