FOREST BATH

A pressure-free existence in harmony with nature

Forest bathing is about being in nature with open senses. When we engage our sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, we become more present in the moment and can access health benefits.

Forest bathing is a way to allow the body to recover. Many of us live in a daily routine filled with constant stimuli, and our brains must make decisions and remain alert all the time. Nature provides our brains and ourselves a break from this, and it is a place where we can recharge and gain new energy!

People often say they love being outdoors in nature. But actually being 'in' nature is something entirely different... This is something we experienced at our workplace when Vanessa wonderfully guided us through a forest bathing session. A strange, powerful sense of calm and harmony came over everyone. Practical information for forest bathing:

  • Bring clothing appropriate for the weather (the event may be canceled due to weather conditions).

  • Bring a mat or blanket to sit and/or lie on the ground.

  • No prior knowledge is required.

  • Wellness benefits can be used.

What does forest bathing mean?

Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku as it is called in Japanese, was coined in 1982 when the Japanese Forestry Agency aimed to reduce stress among its population. They had noticed that an increasing number of people were feeling worse and invested in research on how forest resources could be used for health promotion to help the Japanese people feel better. This yielded very good results, and the phenomenon then spread worldwide.
